Abstract

PURPOSE: To inexpensively form a plural-channel acousto-optic element of high performance by stacking a small-size acousto-optic media for single channel.
CONSTITUTION: Independent acousto-optic media M1, M2, M3 and transducers T1, T2, T3 are stacked in a manner as to assume the same side faces, whereby one plural-channel acousto-optic element is formed. Therefore, the electric signals applied to electrodes E1, E2, E3 cause incident light I to be diffracted by the acousto- optic media M1, M2, M3 of the respective channels, and to emit by being made into diffracted light I11, I12, I13 and transmitted light I0 by each channel. By this constitution, interference of acoustic waves within the media M1, M2, M3 is obviated, and further electrical shielding is made easy, thus the acousto-optic element of high performance is obtained.
