Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a bituminous epoxy resin compsn. in which the compatibility of an epoxy resin with an asphalt is improved and corrosion resistance and flexibility are also improved, by blending the epoxy resin and the asphalt with a hydroxyl group-contg. higher fatty acid ester.
CONSTITUTION: An epoxy resin (A) and an asphalt (B) are blended with a hydroxyl group-contg. higher fatty acid ester (C). If desired, further a tackifier resin (D) is blended. The asphalts having a penetration of 10W200 are preferred. Examples of the hydroxyl group-contg. higher fatty acid estrs are esters of fatty acids contg. hydroxyl group in the molecule and hydroxyl group-contg. fatty acid esters resulting from the introduction of the hydroxyl group into the molecule by an air oxidation, a catalytic oxidation, etc. The fatty acid esters having a hydroxyl value of 200W300 are preferred. When the hydroxyl value is excessively large or small, an improving effect on the compatibility is insufficient.
