Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled compsn. which is dried and cured at a low temperature to impart excellent stainproof properties to the surfaces of metallic plates, inorg. plates, etc., by a method wherein an aq. soln. of a specified alkali metal silicate, an acid phosphate and an inorg. pigment are mixed together to form a main component, and then an Al compd. is blended with the main component.
CONSTITUTION: An aq. soln. of an alkali metal silicate (A) having the formula M2O.SiO2 [wherein M is an alkali metal, -N(ROH)4, or -NH4], an acid phosphate (B) (e.g. acid magnesium phosphate or acid iron phosphate), and an inorg. pigment (C) (e.g. titanium oxide, zinc oxide or silica) are mixed together to form a main component. Then 0.1W30pts.wt. (on a solid basis) Al compd. (e.g. Al2O3 powder or aluminum silicate) and, if necessary, 0W30pts.wt. (on a solid basis) auxiliary hardener (e.g. a silicofluoride or a borate) are added to 100pts.wt. (on a solid basis) main component to obtain the titled compsn. The compsn. is coated on a substrate and can be cured at about 300°C.
