Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an ultrathin film having selective permeability for mixed gases stably and continuously, by feeding a solution of a polymer, e.g., polyolefin, etc. to the surface of water to form an ultrathin film, supporting it on a porous substrate, and taking it out. CONSTITUTION:A polymer consisting essentially of a polyolefin or dienenpolymer is dissolved in a solvent, e.g., a hydrocarbon, etc. to give a solution, which is, for example, added to the cylinder 1 and fed from the needlelike nozzle 2 to the surface of water continuously, to form an ultrathin film of the polymer on the surface of water. The ultrathin film is taken out continuously on the surface of water by the support of the sheet porous substrate 8 while being supported by the substrate transferred through the rollers 6 and 7 from the roll 4 of the substrate 8. EFFECT:Transmitting a large amount of gas, the film is preferably useful as a separating film.
