Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the shadow image of the ground contact part of a tyre to be observed sharply by providing irradiating rays to at least one side surface of a glass plate allowed to contact with the tread of the tyre.
CONSTITUTION: A glass plate 1 consisting of a transparent tempered glass is formed to a rectangular shape having suitable thickness, and is so formed that the tread of a tyre 2 is pressed to the surface thereof, and the tyre is rolled. A pair of flash discharge tubes 5 are disposed to the opposing side end faces of the glass plates 1 in parallel with said side end faces. The tyre 2 is placed on the surface of the glass plate 1, and its tread is brought into contact with said surface, thence the flash discharge tubes 5 are operated to generate flashes at every predetermined time. Further, if the flash discharge tubes 5 are operated in synchronization with a camera 10, the shadow image of the contact part 3 of the tyre 2 may be photographed instantaneously even if it is rolling on the surface of the glass plate 1.
