Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect the extent of distortion generated on the rotary shaft, by obtaining position signals from both ends of the rotary shaft and by detecting the phase difference between these signals.
CONSTITUTION: If rotary shaft 1 is twisted while rotary shaft 1 is rotating, phase slippage is generated between pulses 9a and 10a from the detecting device consisting of discs 2 and 8 and pickups 9 and 10. Therefore, the flip-flop of phase detecting circuit 14 starts outputting pulses. Signal 14 of phase detecting circuit 14 obtained by integrating these pulses indicates a value proportional to the phase difference between pulses 12a and 13a, namely, the extent of tortion of rotary shaft 1 generated between discs 2 and 8.
