PURPOSE:To constitute a wire transmission system at a low cost by transmitting information for response, only by changing waveforms of a clock pulse string by alternating ''0'' and ''1'' signals consisting of a prescribed mark signal and space signal transmitted from a center station. CONSTITUTION:At each terminal station, digital signal B transmitted from a center station via a common two-wire transmission line is received and when response to it should be made, a signal of ''1'' and ''0'' in waveform C, for example, turns on- off switching transistor T2 to obtain a signal in waveform D, which is sent back to the center station. Even if terminals P3 and P4 of the two-wire transmission line are connected reversely to the balanced bridge circuit composed of diodes D1-D4, no trouble occurs to transistor T2, etc., of the terminal station. Therefore, the time required for wiring construction, etc., can be shortened.
