Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible smooth arc starting by short-circuiting a DC reactor at the contacting of an electrode and base metals thereby making the rise of electric current steep and obviating the impairment of DC reactor effect at the arc stabilizing.
CONSTITUTION: Primary windings Ta of a transformer T are delta-connected and are connected to the inlet terminals 1W3 of 3-phase AC. Intermediate taps are provided to its secondary windings Tb. The 1st rectifying circuit RF1 is constituted by the 1stW3rd thyristors TH1W3 and the 2nd rectifying circuit RF2 is constituted by the 4thW6th thyristors TH4W6 connected to the intermediate taps of the secondary windings. A cotrol rectifying circuit S consisting of a thyristor connected between the connecting points of the anodes of the 4thW6th thyristors and an output terminal 4 is provided. A rectifying element D such as diode is placed from the connecting point of the 1st rectifying circuit and a linear reactor DCL to the connecting point of the 2nd rectifying circuit and the control rectifying circuit. Because of this, the electric current of the base by the 2nd rectifying circuit flows without passing through the DC reactor at the arc starting, thus the rise of the electric current becomes steep.
