Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve resistances to heat and wear, by using a starting resin for binder to disperse magnetic powder into the straight-chain thermoplastic polyurethane and by obtaining a magnetic film having a specific stress for stretching at the stage of cross-linking with polyvalent isocyanate.
CONSTITUTION: The magnetic coating material consisting of the polyurethane solution of at least 5W15wt% concentration, magnetic powder, and the polyvalent isocyanate of 5W20wt% based on polyurethane solid components is appllied to the film and is subjected to heat treatment at 60W100°C for severalW24hr to obtain a magnetic recording medium. In this case, the said polyurethane is the straight- chain thermoplastic polyurethane, and a magnetic layer having ≥1kg/mm2 stress for (per the initial section) at 50% stretching when it is cross-linked with polyvalent isocyanate.
