Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the strength of pinched-off sections of the hollow container, by extruding a parison into a split mold through a die, contacting the walls of the parison by pressure to cause the surfaces thereof to be welded and to form the pinched-off sections, and thereafter performing blow molding for the parison. CONSTITUTION:When the parison 1 extruded through the die 4 has reached the bottom of the split mold 5A, 5B, parison pushing members 6A, 6B, 6C, 6D are actuated by air cylinders 7A, 7B, 7C, 7D to be forced against the bottom and upper parts of the parison 1. After the inner surfaces of the parison 1 are welded and the pinched-off sections 3 are formed, the parison pushing members 6A, 6B, 6C, 6D are moved out of abutting surfaces 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d of the split mold 5A, 5B, then the split mold 5A, 5B is closed and a fluid under pressure is forced through a blowing pipe 8 to perform the blow molding.
