PURPOSE:A promotor for growth of hair, applicable to alopecia due to the degeneration phenomenon, and containing a dithioglycollic acid. CONSTITUTION:A promotor for growth of hair of pH 2-6 containing dithioglycollic acid, a salt or a derivative thereof or further preferably an alpha-hydroxy fatty acid, e.g. lactic acid or glycollic acid. As for the promotor for the growth of hair, cystine or cysteine has attracted public attention, however, has problems such as oxidation stability, solubility and odor. The dithioglycollic acid or a salt thereof is an odorless sulfur compond, has a pormoting action on the growth of hair and good solubility in dilute ethanol without change with time.
