Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the strength of flocks and to facilitate the dehydration of sludge, by adding an organic high-molecular coagulant to a sludge at an excessive rate to neutralize an electric charge of solids in the sludge, and adding an organic high-molecular coagulant with an opposite charge at a rate to neutralize an electric charge of the excessive former coagulant.
CONSTITUTION: To a sludge is added a cationic organic high-molecular coagulant at an excessive rate to neutralize an electric charge of solids in the sludge, and then with an anionic organic high-molecular coagulant at a rate to neutrlize an electric charge of the excessive cationic coagulant. The former coagulant may be an anionic type, while the latter shall be a cationic type. During the additions of these coagulants, the sludge is agitated. Solids in the sludge agglomerate together and form flocks, while the cationic and anionic coagulants added excessively react together and from thread-shaped agglomeration. The flocks and agglomerations are bonded together to tangled together, so that flock complexes are formed. Thus, the strength of flocks is improved and the dehydration ability is also improved.
