Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an index signal which isn't influenced by the picture image signal, by employing such stripe structure of index fluorescent material where the phase difference between index signals obtained at adjascent scanning lines is 180 deg.. CONSTITUTION:When viewing a fluorescent screen from the side of an electron gun, R, G, B color fluorescent materials 102 and black guard band 103 are provided, then a metal-back electrode 105 such as Al is formed on them while furthermore index fluorescent material 301, 302 are coated over it. the index fluorescent material 302 is formed only at the horizontal scanning start section where it is in parallel with R, G, B fluorescent materials 102 and having the same pitch with that of the triplet. The fluorescent material 301 has the same pitch with that of the triplet and coated in such a way that the phase is sifted by 180 deg. between adjascent scanning lines of horizontal scan. With such arrangement an index signal having one to one correspondence with the phase of the fluorescent materail is abtained, and the phase of color signal is never disturbed even if the index signal is missed during the scanning.
