Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a pressure-sensitive adhesive in which bond strength to polyolefins is improved, by a method wherein a specified monomer mixt. is seed-polymerized in the pressure of an aq. dispersion of an acrylic resin and an ethylene- vinyl acetate copolymer as seeds.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 20W90pts.wt. of a monomer mixt. consisting of (i) 60W 99wt% of an acrylic ester having 4W12C alkyl, (ii) 1W7wt% of at least one monomer selected from an α,β-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, an alkyl acrylate having hydroxyl gp. (or an alkyl methacrylate having hydroxyl gp.), acrylamide, methacrylamide, an acrylamide derivative and a methacrylamide derivative, and (iii) 0W39wt% of a polymerizable viny or vinylidene monomer other than the monomers of (i) and (ii) are polymerized in the presence of (B) 5W40pts.wt. of an aq. dispersion of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and (C) 5W40pts.wt. of an aq. dispersion of an acrylic resin to obtain an aq. resin dispersion which is then used as an adhesive.
