Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a porous membrane having uniform pores in a short time, by a method wherein in a process for the production of a porous membrane by utilizing an extraction method (a molecule to be extracted is extracted with water, said molecule being diffused in a membrane), a halide of an alkaline earth metal is used as the molecule to be extracted.
CONSTITUTION: An aq. soln. of a halide of an alkaline earth metal (pref. calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, barium chloride) is heated at an elevated temp. (70°C to a boiling point of the aq. salt soln.). A membrane of a polyamide (aliph. nylon, arom. polyamide, etc.) is immersed in the heated salt soln. to uniformly disperse the salt in the membrane. Then the membrane treated with the aq. salt soln. is immersed in water at a temp. of 5W50°C for 2W60min. to extract the salt molecule dispersed in the membrane. Then the membrane is washed with water and dried to obtain the desired porous membrane.
