PURPOSE:To prevent the lowering of S/N in reproducing a video signal in different speed from the recording, by switching a reproduction signal having greater level through keeping the continuity among the main and subauxiliary heads of two reproducing magnetic heads. CONSTITUTION:After each playback signal for the main magnetic heads Ha, Hb and submagnetic heads Ha', Hb' is switched at the switch circuit SW1, SW2, it is fed to demodulation circuit 6, 6'. The output of the circuits 6, 6' is given to the fixed contacts (c), (d) of the switch circuit SW4, and the signal having greater level among the outputs of the circuits SW1, SW2 is output with the output signal from the switching signal generating circuit 10 through the moving contact (m) and fed to the detection circuit 8. Further, the switching circuits SW5, SW6 are provided, and the moving contact (m) of the circuit SW5 is connected to the fixed contact (f) of SW6 via the delay circuit 7.
