Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively generate torque and obtain turning force by allowing the buckling and recovering action of configuration memory elements in a heat drive engine which accommodates those elements. CONSTITUTION:When a configuration memory alloy 1 is heated beyond the transformation temperature at position C, the configuration memory alloy 1 returns to its linear configuration from its curved configuration and eccentric mass 2 is raised upward. Since the position where the configuration memory alloy 1 is heated is shifted in the direction of revolution from the top dead point D, a couple of forces is generated by the eccentric mass 2 and turning force is applied to a rotary ring 4. The configuration memory alloy 1 is cooled below the transformation temperature by a cooling source 7 at the position of cooling point F and becomes flexible. As a result, the configuration memory alloy 1 starts bending downward by the dead weight of the eccentric mass 2 and the distance from the center of revolution of the eccentric mass 2 is slowly reduced. The configuration memory alloy 1 is repeatedly heated and cooled. This changes the distance of the eccentric mass 2 from the center of revolution and generates torque.
