Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the beam splitter as well as reduce the space, by providing the base part having no lens function around an object lens in a doughnut form and attaching the photodetector to the base part.
CONSTITUTION: The base part 12 having no lens function is provided around the object lens 4, and the photodetector 13 is attached to the part 12. In such constitution, the laser beam enters the lens 4 again at the part where no pit 7 of the disk 5 exists, and the intensity of light has such distribution 14 as shown in the figure at the part of the pit 7. Thus the light comes out of the lens 4 on the coming-back path of the light. As a result, the laser beam is irradiated also by the photodetector 13 at the part of the pit 7, enabling the reception of signals. The beam splitter can be excluded to reduce the space.
