Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure a uniform and highly efficient fixing with heat, by using a slow-wave circuit type waveguide and at the same time giving different widths to the waveguide and to the travelling direction of the recording paper.
CONSTITUTION: The microwave generated from the microwave generator 11 is extended wider than the width of the recording paper P by the mode converter 17 after passing through the uniguide 16 to be sent to the slow-wave circuit type waveguide 12. The waveguide 12 is contracted at its middle part to be continuous from the region to I to the region II having a different width from the region I. In the region II, the standing wave is generated at such position as to fill the space of the standing wave part which is heated up in the region I. Another mode converter 17 is provided after the waveguide 12 with addition of the pseudo load. The recording paper P is transferred toward the arrow (a).
