Abstract
PURPOSE: To maintain good transparency and weather resistance and improve the impact resistance remarkably without reducing the heat distortion temperature, by incorporating a methacrylic resin modifier of 5-stage structure with a methacrylic resin.
CONSTITUTION: A resin composition with a gel content G of 15W60% and an Izod impact strength I (kg.cm/cm) satisfying the formual, and prepared by incorporating a methyacrylic resin with a resin modifier of 5-stage structure, consisting of 50W 75wt% methyl methacrylate, 10W40wt% acrylic ester and 2W10wt% monomer having a copolymerizable double bond, and containing a crosslinked acrylic ester copolymer elastomer in which methyl methacrylate copolymer is grafted thereon. The modifier comprises a rubber layer of a crosslinked acrylic este having a low Tg in the second stage, a layer containing much acrylic ester in the third stage and a layer containing little acrylic ester in the fourth stage, and the ratios of the polymers in the respective stages are 5W90% based on the totsl polymers in the fifth stage, and 5W25%, 55W76%, 7W14% and 7W14% based on the fourth stage polymer in the first, second, third and fourth stage polymer in the first, second, third and fourth stages respectively.
