Abstract
PURPOSE: The speeds of the feed mechanism and take up mechanism are set in the order of the center speed at the heated and softened part of the glass bulb, the speed of the inside surface at the part to be bent and the feed speed, thus controlling the elongation and compression at each part and ensuring the steady and accurate bending of a glass bulb.
CONSTITUTION: When the take up speed at the center of the heated and softened part in bulb A, the take up speed at the inside surface of the heated and softened part to be bent and the feed speed are represented by V1, V2 and V3 respectively, the take up mechanism 17 and feed mechanism are controlled in operation speed so that the three kinds of speed keeps the following relationship: V1>V2>V3. The difference in operation speed between both mechanism 17 and 2 can positively gives elongation or compression to the heated and softened part and undesirable deformation at the part to be bent is hardly caused, when the above speed relationship is kept, resulting in ensuring accurate and steady bending.
