USE: Providing a photoconductive material with high sensitizing ability, the compound is a synthetic intermediate for thiopyrylium dye to give a picture having improved color separation.
PROCESS: A compound shown by the formula II is reacted with an alkali hydrosulfide (e.g., lithium hydrosulfide, sodium hydrosulfide, and potassium hydrosulfide) shown by the formula MSH (M is Li, Na, or K) or an alkali sulfide (e.g., lithium sulfide, sodium sulfide, and potassium sulfide) shown by the formula M2S in an inert atmosphere, e.g., N2, argon, (O2, etc.) in a high polar solvent (e.g., hexamethyl-phosphoric triamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, etc.) to give a compound shown by the formula I.
