NEW MATERIAL:4-Halogeno-1-naphthol-2-sulfonic acid expressed by the formula (X is halogen) and its salt.
EXAMPLE: Potassium 4-bromo-1-naphthol-2-sulfonate.
USE: Accurate and sensitive determination of the activity of hydrogen peroxide or peroxidase without being affected by hemoglobin, bilirubin, etc. useful as a clinical inspection and diagnosis agent. Usable for the determination of not only peroxidase but also materials having the activity similar to that of peroxidase, e.g. celluloplasmin, hemoglobin, etc.
PROCESS: 1-Naphthol-2-sulfonic acid or its salt is dissolved or suspended in a solvent inert to halogens (e.g. acetic acid) and reacted with a halogen to give the compound of formula I.
