Abstract

PURPOSE:To recover reusable zinc at a high yield by causing zinc dross and a recovery assistant to react in the melting cell of a titled apparatus consisting of the melting cell and a cleaning cell which are segmented by means of a partition wall, and flowing out the clean zinc alone to a plating cell through the cleaning cell. CONSTITUTION:A melting cell 3 segmented by a partition wall 5 having a passage 7 within a zinc plating bath cell B, a cleaning cell 6, a discharge port 8 slightly below the molten liquid level of the cleaning cell 6 and a water cooling jacket 11 are provided and a recovery device A is constituted by these and a hood 10 having an inlet 1, etc. Predetermined amounts of the zinc plating dross scooped from the bath cell B and a recovery assistant such as zinc chloride are charged through a freely openable feed port 1 into the melting cell 3 provided with an agitator 2 and a thermometer 9. Thereupon, these are cuased to react at a 460-630 deg.C temp. range. The zinc of good flow having sedimented in the lower layer by having melted and separated enters the cleaning cell 6 through the opening 7. The zinc in the relatively clean upper part layer is recovered into the bath cell B through the opening 8. The rate of recovery of zinc by this method is about >=80%.
