Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively deodorize and dehydrate org. sludge by blending an oily deodorant and a surfactant into a powdered polymer flocculant to uniformly mix the flocculant with the deodorant and using the blend as dehydrating agent for the sludge.
CONSTITUTION: An oily deodorant such as camphor or menthol and a nonionic surfactant such as polyoxyethylenealkyl either or a cationic surfactant such as as alkyldimethylbenzeneammonium chloride are bended into a cationic polymer flocculant such as quaternization product of an N-dialkylaminoalkyl acrylate homopolymer, and this blend is used to dehydrate org. sludge of sewage, night soil or the like. When the sludge is converted into flocks by flocculation, the deodorant is well adsorbed on the solid component of the sludge, and dehydration and deodorization are performed simultaneously and effectively.
