Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently remove the NH3 and SO3 in high-concentration SO2 gas by mixing the high-concentration SO2 gas containing NH3 and SO3 and nitrogen oxide and letting these gasses pass the packed bed of carbonaceous catalysts under the specific temperature conditions.
CONSTITUTION: The high-concentration SO2 gas containing NH3 and SO3 and the nitrogen oxide obtained by air-oxidation of ammonia are mixed and these mixed gases are passed through the packed bed of carbonaceous catalysts at a 200W500°C temperature, whereby the NH3 and SO3 in the gases are converted to N2 and SO2 respectively. For example, the nitrogen oxide to be mixed in the NH3- and SO3-contg. high-concentration SO2 gas flowing in a line 5 is supplied from an ammonia converter 6 by way of a line 7. Thence, it is led into a reactor 8, where it is contacted with moving bed of carbonaceous catalysts kept at 200W500°C, whereby the NH3 and SO3 in the gas are converted to N2 and SO2 respectively.
