Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress the power consumption in the nonsignal period, by dividing a power supply circuit of a display device into the power supplies for the system of tuner and synchronism circuits and the system of display and audio circuits, and switch the power supply for the latter system corresponding to the presence or absence of the synchronizing signal. CONSTITUTION:Synchronizing signals are obtained from the output of a tuner circuit 1 for the synchronism circuit 2 and a display/audio circuit 3 outputs video and audio in matching with the signals. A detection circuit 4 discriminates the presence of television signal with the information from the synchronism circuit 2, and a control circuit cuts off the power supply for the display/audio circuit from the output.
