Abstract

PURPOSE: To surely detect the internal fault of the windings to be detected by providing an intermediate tap to the winding to be detected, connecting this to the two primary windings of a potential transformer and adding and differentiating the voltage of the secondary windings with respect to the primary windings and detecting the fault therein.
CONSTITUTION: A tap U1 is provided to the high-voltage windings 2 to be detected of a low-voltage side winding 3 of which a load is connected between terminals (u), (v), and this is connected to the primary windings 4a, 5p, respectively, of potential transformers 4, 5. The secondary windings 4S and 5S of the potential transformers are connected to opposite polarities so as to differentiate with each other and a voltage relay 6 detecting the differential voltage is provided. As a result, the voltage across the relay 6 becomes zero at the steady time, but when short- circuiting occurs in any of the windings 2 to be detected, the voltages induced in the secondary windings 4S and 5S differ and the relay 6 operate, whereby a fault is detected. The position of the tap U1 is put where the relay 6 does not operate at a normal state.
