Abstract

PURPOSE: To make book binding operation efficient by providing a displacement detection device to generate an electric signal corresponding to a missing page or an extra page of a pull-out folder in accordance with the displaced position of a roller which responds to a change in the thickness of a pull-out folder.

CONSTITUTION: Under a normal condition where bevel gears 24, 34 are intermeshed with rollers 4, 5 holding the pull-out folder 3 of a normal thickness, an adjustment nut 38 is locked with a space 0.5mm left between the adjustment nut 38 and a vertical wall 35. In addition, a adjustment bolt 41 is locked to control first slide plate 19 an lock and adjustment bolt 51. If the machine is operated under this condition, each roller 4, 5 rotates at the same peripheral speed as the moving speed of a clamper 2 through the intermediary of a driving shaft 16. A photoelectric switch 54 circuit is turned on each time the folding book 3 is causght by the rollers 4, 5 as the clamper shifts. Therefore, it is possible to confirm that there is no missing page or an extra page in the folding book 3, on account of the action by the photoend part of the second arm 45 to turn the photoelectric switch on whenever, the regular-siged pull-out folder 3 is caught between the rollers 4, 5.
