Abstract

PURPOSE: To inspect print quality automatically with regard to bar width by comparing the width of one black bar with that of an adjacent white bar and by finding the print quality from the comparison value.
CONSTITUTION: Driving circuit 4 rotates reflex mirror 3 by supplying a triangular wave or sine wave to torque motor 2 to make a spot beam scan on bar code symbol 1. Its reflected scanning light is changed by photoelectric converting element 7 into an electric signal in a pulse string shape. This pulse-string like signal is shaped by waveform shaping circuit 8 and changed by digitizing circuit 9 into digital data, which is stored in memory circuit 10. Arithmetic circuit 11 reads the digital data out of circuit 10 and compares the width of a black bar with that of a white bar of symbol 1. On the basis of the comparison result, print pressure or ink density is adjusted so that the arithmetic result will reach the atandard value.
