NEW MATERIAL:3,3'-Diamino-4,4'-diimidodiphenyl sulfone of formula I (R11 and R12 are formulas II, III and IV; R2 is H, methyl or phenyl; m and n are 0 or 1; methyl group in them is linked to the carbon atom which may have one H atom). EXAMPLE:3,3'-Diamino-4,4'-di(maleimido)diphenyl sulfone. USE:Useful as a raw material for a thermosetting heat-resistant resin. PROCESS:3,3'-Dinitro-4,4'-diimidodiphenyl sulfone of formula V is reduced to give the compound of formula I. The reduction is carried out by any of the methods, e.g. usual reduction of the nitro group to an amino group, i.e. with a chemical reducing agent, or catalytic hydrogenation.
