Abstract
PURPOSE:To remove water drops and scales attached on the casting wheel completely, by installing a string like brush roller which deforms itself in accordance with the shape of casting wheel groove, as a throating mechanism at rotary mold type continuous casting devices. CONSTITUTION:Brush roller 12 is installed at location A which does not give any obstruction to the pouring work of casting wheel 1 and it is used as a throating mechanism of the first stage. Brush roller 12 is made to have a string like shape by using soft material of about 0.3mm. in diameter and made of nylon, etc., and is fitted so that it may be moved around the fixed end of arm 14 by means of cylinder 13. Moreover, the roller is rotated along the opposite direction of casting wheel 1. Brush roller 12 is deformed and form the same shape in accordance with the shape of groove of casting wheel 1 and the hardness of the brush must be adjusted to become about 1/10 of that of the casting wheel surface. By this, water drops and scales attached on casting wheel 1 can be removed. Duster 16 and hot blast device 17 are installed, respectively, after the brush roller.
