Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized cassette type ribbon which prevents hands from being stained when setting it and is simple to handle, by a method wherein, in an endless cassette type ink ribbon, two cases, which can be separated and united together, are separated from each other and are mounted at a printer. CONSTITUTION:In a pair of cassette cases 1, 1 having a symmetrical structure, an ink roller 5 impregnated with ink and a transfer roller 5 a built into the left case 1, and a guide member 7, which has a cavity 8 and can move horizontally, is incorporated in the right case 1. When the case 1, 1 are not used, they are coupled with each other through coupling claws 19, 19 and a loosening part of a ribbon 20 is packed in the cavity 8. When they are set at the printer, the two case 1, 1 are seperated, and the loosening part of the ribbon 20 is pulled out from an opening 18. The cases are set at a fitting plate in such a condition as causes the guide member 7 to move a bit to the right against the force of a spring 12.
