Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently recover a residual liquefied gas in a liqufied gas tank, by operating at least one of a plurality of reliquefaction plant series, as a refrigeration cycle.
CONSTITUTION: With valves 12 and 15 being opened and valve 16 being closed, in the conventional manner, a residual liquefied gas (e.g., propane) in tank 1 is sent together with N2 introduced from pipe 7, through compression 2a or 2b, to condenser 3a or 3b, and a propane liquid is recovered through pipe 23, while a gas is sent through low-temperature condenser 5 to vapour-liquid separator 6, from which a propane liquid is recovered through pipe 22 and a gas (consisting of N2 and little propane gas) is discharged through pipe 24. Then with the valves 12 and 15 being closed and the valve 16 being opened, the series of the compressor 2b is operated as a refrigeration cycle in such a way that a gas pressurized in the compressor 2b is liquefied in condenser 3 and sent through expansion valve 4 and the low-temperature condenser 5, a liquefied gas being recycled to the compressor 2b. Thus a gas from the condenser 3a or 3b is sufficiently cooled in the low-temperature separator 5, and subjected to efficient vapour-liquid separation.
