In this case, the probability that a light source enters the priority visual field direction is high, and therefore a dark shadow is produced. Hereupon, external light sources are generally three-dimensional and since light enters from various directions, the shadows become multiple images and their contours blur. To prevent this, it is necessary to approach the distance between the liquid crystal layer 23 and the reflection surface to extremity. To this end, the substrate 22 and polarizing plate 25 are made as thin as possible. If the distance between the liquid crystal layer and the reflection surface is ≤250μ, the image and shadow substantially coincide and the blur of the shadow is no longer admitted.
