Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the number of bits to identify transmission and reception parties, by giving a transmission direction designation bit which indicates whether transmission is made from the 1st type to the 2nd type device or reverse, to each frame. CONSTITUTION:The 1st type devices 2, 3 and the 2nd type devices 4, 5...6 are connected to a loop line 1. The transmission frame consists of a synchronizing field 101, vacant frame identifying field B102, transmission direction designation field D103, information transmission or reception device identifying field M104 and field S105, information field 106, and inspection field 107. If the direction of information transmission is from the 1st to the 2nd type devices, the field D103 is ''1'' and if it is reverse, then it is at ''0''. Thus, the direction of transmission and reception is identified by giving ''1'' or ''0'' for the direction of information transmission to the field M or S and ''0000'' or ''1111'' according to the corresponding device.
