Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the NMR measurement of a gel sample by employing a glass tube with both ends open. CONSTITUTION:Prepared is a glass tube 4 with both ends open and with the outside diameter smaller than the inside diameter (approximately 5mm.) of an ardinary test-tube for NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance). The glass tube 4 is filled with a sample 1, and after rubber stoppers 2 are inserted from the ends, the end portions are filled with a bonding agent 3. Moreover, the glass tube 4 hermetically filled with the sample 1 is placed in an ordinary test-tube for NMR to measure the NMR spectrum of the gel sample 1. Making both the ends of the glass tube 4 open permits the gel sample 1 to be closely filled with ease, sealing the ends with the rubber stoppers 2 prevents the solvent from evaporating from the ends of the glass tube 4, and filling the end portions with the bonding agent 3 prevents the rubber stoppers 2 from being pushed out under high-temperature conditions.
