Abstract

PURPOSE: A small amount of triethylisopentenylammonium iodide is used as a catalyst and a prenyl halide is made to react with a ketone in the presence of an alkaline condensing agent at a high reaction rate to produce an unsaturated ketone in high yield.
CONSTITUTION: Triethylisopentenylammonium iodide is used as a catalyst and the condensation reaction of a prenyl halide of formula I (X is Cl, Br, I) with a ketone of formula II [R, R' may form a ring together with CH2COCH2, when they do not form a ring, R, R' are H, 1-15C alkly, 2W15C alkenyl, when forming a ring, -R-R'- is alkylen of -(CR1R2)n-(R1, R2 are H, 1W5C alkyl; n is 1W3)] is conducted in the presence of an alkaline condensing agent such as sodium hydroxide to produce an unsaturated ketone.
