Abstract
PURPOSE:To expedite the operating period in turning off the current, by employing the electromagnetic energy stored in an inductor and quickly conducting the current through the many electromagnets having the inductance. CONSTITUTION:A switch 3 is normally closed, and a current i0 flows through the inductor 2. When a switch 5 is opened, a counter-electromotive force is generated in the inductor, and the large current flows instantaneously through the path comprising the inductor 2, a diode 6, the electromagnet 1, the switch 5, and a power source 4. Let the inductances of the electromagnet 1 and the inductor 2 be L1 and L0, respectively. When the ideal switch 3 is turned off, (L0/L0+L1)i0 is flowed and the current is impulsively increased. Therefore, the electromagnet, whose attracting force is instantly increased and action is quick, can be obtained. After the electromagnet 1 has been operated by the current from the inductor 2, the holding current is supplied from the power source 4 via a diode 7.
