Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the titled heat exchanger which has simple structure is attachable to each reaction tube, and is capable of minimizing the distance between the exchanger and the reaction tube and reducing the residential time of produced gas, by filling the shell surrounding cracked gas flow pipes and high pressure cooling water pipes with molten metal as thermal medium. CONSTITUTION:Cracked gas discharged from the reaction tube is charged through the upper inlet 6, flowed downward through the vertical gas pipe 1 and discharged from the lower outlet 7. The gas pipe 1 is surrounded with a ring-shaped water- headder 4 and a steam headder 5. Both headders are connected with high pressure cooling pipes 2. The vertical parts of the cooling pipes 2 are collected together near the surface of the gas flow pipe 1. The pipe 1 and the high pressure cooling water pipes 2 are surrounded with a shell 3, which is filled with molten metal 15 such as lead, a lead alloy, tin a tin alloy, bismuth, etc. The molten metal acts as the thermal medium for the thermal transfer between the gas flow pipe 1 and the cooling water pipes 2.
