Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an optical system for facsimile which can switch automatically two or more kinds of scanning line density, by adding a round slit and a zoom lens in front of the conventional rotating optical system. CONSTITUTION:Laser beam 5 from recording light source 4 including a laser tube and a light modulator has the beam diameter made into a prescribed value by round slit 6 and is focused as the image of round slit 6 on square slit 8 of rotating optical system 1. The size of the image of round slit 6 is changed from the size surrounding square slit 8 to the size of the short side of square slit 8 approximately by adjustment of the zoom lens.
