Abstract
1410934 Controlling vehicle headlamps CIBIE PROJECTEURS 24 Oct 1972 [12 Nov 1971] 48872/72 Heading F4R An hydraulic arrangement for automatically regulating the orientation of vehicle headlamps comprises front and rear mechanical transmission systems 3, 1, each system detecting respective relative vehicle body movements and translating such movements via respective levers L3, L1, variable volume chambers 3c, 1c and hydraulic outlets 3e, 1e to a transducer relay 5 serving to actuate at least one headlamp P, wherein each hydraulic outlet 3c, 1c is directly connected by a respective independent line 103, 101 to the same variable volume chamber 5b of the transducer relay 5. Preferably adjustable jets g are provided at the inlet and outlet of each connecting line 103, 101. The transmitters 1 and 3 are basically similar and comprise a linkage arrangement 8-11 connected to a control lever L1 which pivots about support S1 and varies the volume in chamber 1c through slide 1g, membrane 1d and spring 1h. The relay 5 has two chambers 5b, 5c delimited by flexible membranes 5d, 5e between which is a piston 5f connected by a rod 5g to control rod 16 of headlamp P1. The control unit 7 for the second headlamp P2 is connected to the chamber 5c by a line 6. The adjustable jets g in the connecting lines 101, 103 assist the damping of unwanted oscillations in the system.
