CONSTITUTION:Foamed vinyl acetate sponge of 2-5mm. thickness is used as a filter medium for the lubricating oil main flow filter of an internal combustion engine, and the surface area of the filtration surface is so determined that the rate of lubricating oil inflow becomes average <=10mm./sec. Because of this, the sizes of the filtered particles become <=3 microns and the flow rate >=3,000l/hr. When the filter medium causes clogging, it is removed and is blown with air, then it may be used for a number of times and if the wire screen or the like clamped on the inflow face side is used, the service time may be further prolonged by back washing with air.
