Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve a pressure rising efficiency and also to improve durability of a cap seal, by a method wherein, in a clutch master cylinder and other hydraulic cylinders, a staged portion of a piston and a cylinder inner wall are formed to produce a noncontact seal action.
CONSTITUTION: The first land part 22, being positioned facing and opposite to a liquid pressure chamber 25, and the second land part 23, being located further rear from the liquid pressure chamber 25 than said land part 22 are situated on a piston 13 which can slide at the inside of a cylinder proper 11 in a clutch master cylinder 10 for car. A relation between diameters s and d of the land parts 22 and 23, respectively, and a diameter D of a cylinder inner circumference wall 12 is formed to be an inequality of d≤s<D, and a plurarity of groove stripes are made in an outer circumferential surface of the land part 22. A cap seal is matedly fitted between the rand parts 22 and 23. When the piston 13 moves to the left, the liquid pressure chamber 25 is reduced in the pressure therein at the inside of the liquid pressure chamber 25a by a noncontact seal action, and the leakage of liquid from the cap seal 24 is prevented.
