Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the definition of a color picture remarkably by using only the high frequency component of a luminance signal for a threshold level. CONSTITUTION:A luminance signal generated by luminance signal source 11, having a high frequency component extracted by high-pass filter 13, is amplitude- limited and then added to a DC bias voltage from DC bias source 18 by adding circuit 16 to generate a threshold signal. This threshold signal and color difference signal are compared by suppressor 20, which when the color difference signal exceeds the threshold level, suppresses part of the color difference signal. The color difference signal partially suppressed is supplied to adder 21, which adds the input to the luminance signal. Thus, the resolution of a picture is improved by improving the waveform of the color difference signal.
