Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture frosted glass having a smooth surface hard to stain without causing environmental pollution and labor sanitary problems in the manufacture by coating a transparent glass base with glass enamel paste and/or slip contg. low m.p. glass as a principal component and a frother followed by baking.
CONSTITUTION: Low m.p. glass such as alkali aluminoborosilicate glass having ≤500°C softening point is mixed with 0.5W3.0wt% one or more kinds of frothers such as NaClO3, and this mixture is dissolved in a mixture of lavender oil and turpentine oil to prepare glass enamel paste of suitable viscosity. On the other hand, the mixture is dispersed in a soln. of nitrocellulose in butyl acetate to prepare glass enamel slip. A transparent glass base is coated with the paste and/or the slip by screen printing, spraying or other method and calcined in a calcining furnace set to about 550W600°C maximum temp. zone to manufacture the desired frosted glass.
