Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the volume of a cooling water passage formed in a cylinder block and enhance the cooling effect by coupling the liner of the engine to the cyl?inder block to provide anified structure and thus make the liner a perfect by mechanical steng member of the block. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder block 12 is formed with grooves 12A and 12B at the top and bottom of their bore, and a liner 10 having top and bottom sections 10A and 10B is fitted between both grooves. The grooves 12A and 12B at the top and bottom are secured to the respective top and bottom sections 10A and 10B by solder 13A. A cooling water passage 14 is formed between opposing liners 10 or between liner 10 and block 12.
