Abstract
PURPOSE: A composition for antifouling paints which does not decrease in water absorptivity and maintains a dissolution-controlling effect, prepared by mixing, just before use, a hydrophilic acrylic copolymer solution with an epoxy compound containing a copper compound or a tin compound.
CONSTITUTION: The following components (A) and (B) are mixed just before use, so that in the resulting paint, the epoxy compound is 10W50wt%, based on the hydrophilic copolymer: (A) a hydrophilic acrylic copolymerizing 21W49wt% of a polymerizable tert.-amino group-containing monomer represented by formula I, wherein R1 is H or CH3, and R2 and R3 are each a 1W3C hydrocarbyl group, with 21W49wt% of diacetone acrylamide or unsubstituted or N-alkyl substituted (meth) acrylamide represented by formula II, wherein R4 and R5 are each H or a 1W3C hydrocarbyl group, and 21W49wt% of (meth)acrylate ester represented by formula III, wherein R6 is a 1W12C hydrocarbyl group, and if necessary, containing a tin compound, and (B) a dispersion prepared by dispersing an antifouling agent having a copper compound and/or a tin compound as effective components into a solution of an epoxy compound having at least two epoxy groups on the molecular ends and an epoxy eq. of below 300.
