Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the reproduction of fatigue and crack and their advancement for the repaired welding zone, by introducing the compression residual stress to the repaired welding zone, through the repairment and welding the end at least of the fatigue and crack or notch generated in the steel construction, in the state where these have been expanded compulsively.
CONSTITUTION: When fatigue and crack 1 is generated to the steel construction, the both ends of the crack 1 are machined with a drill to form the stop hole 2 having the smooth surface. Next, around almost the center 4 of the crack 1, the wedge member at the tip of the wedge device is inserted to open the crack 1 compulsively through the axial force W. Further, in the state where the crack 1 has been opened compulsively, welding is started from the end of the hole 2 and the crack 1 is burried with the deposited metal 3 by excluding the wedge insertion part. After cooling of the metal 3, the wedge is removed and the axial force W is released, then large residual stress is introduced to the metal 3. After that, the part where the wedge member is inserted is welded and it is burried with the deposited metal 3a.
