Abstract
PURPOSE:To print appropriately even under the presence of changes in the thickness of the printing paper by providing a change-over switch for regulating the supplying duration or the voltage of the energizing power for an electromagnet in accordance with the thickness of the printing paper, in the flying dot printer. CONSTITUTION:In the flying dot printer wherein a needle 18 is driven by an armature 12 attracted by the electromagnet 10 and the printing is conducted by the needle 18 which flies outward due to inertia even after the armature 12 stops, the change-over switch is provided for regulating the supplying duration or the voltage of the energizing power for the electromagnet 10 in accordance with the thickness of the printing paper 27. For example, the switch is operated to shorten the duration of the power supply so as to reduce the driving energy for the needle 18 when the printing paper 27 is thicker, and the driving energy for the needle 18 is increased when the paper 27 is thinner, whereby the most suitable printing condition is obtained.
